When Apple borrowed me the new iPhones I couldn't resist to shoot some comparisons. Obviously, technical comparisons like these are not even half the story. But I'm not going to publish the few hundred family photos I shot with the new iPhones already. So a few comparisons will have to suffice for getting to know the new cameras.
I compared the new iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 to last years iPhone XS and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and the Huawei P30 Pro. As an extra benchmark, I added a few pictures from my full-frame Sony A7 camera. (The Google Pixel isn‘t included unfortunately. Since Google decided not to sell it here in Switzerland I‘m not going to review or even recommend it.)
To say I was blown away by the new iPhone cameras would be an understatement. It's the most reliable smartphone camera I've ever used. No matter the situation (lowlight, kids, macro...) the photos and videos look stunning. Colors, exposure and even portrait-mode-images look so good I was never tempted to use Lightroom to fix something.
But enough from me. Let me know on Twitter what you think and discover. As a bonus, you'll find a link to all the photos at the bottom of the page.
So here are the comparisons…
If you want to inspect the photos closer I uploaded my comparisons to WeTransfer.
I left my A7 at home and only brought the iPhone 11 Pro to the Huawei event.
Here are the pictures:
